When you open the Tiktok app, you are bombarded with different video feeds. Some five-year old niece to someone is dancing, a  farmer in the Himalayas is harvesting rice while a husband is  mimicking his wife cleaning the dishwasher.

What has this got to do with scaling your sales metric and building brand awareness?

Here are four reasons why you need to incorporate Tiktok as one of your marketing strategies.

1. Interest based feed

Unlike most social media platforms that distribute content based on the number of followers that you have, Tiktok is the opposite. The algorithm is purely based on the interest of the content consumers. This means that you can have 100 followers and your video can have thousands and even millions of views. This is a vantage point for your business which you deem as “unpopular” because all you have to do, is create interesting videos that are as creative as you can imagine.

It’s the best place to create exposure and build brand awareness around your product within content consumers who find you video interesting.

2. Local audience

The first time I opened an Instagram account, I was bombarded with suggestions to follow popular artists and influencers like Ariana Grande and  the Kardashians. However, I have noticed that most of the Tiktok content that comes to my feed is from local content creators.

9 out of 10 videos in my feed are from Kenya.

If the goal of your business is to increase sales locally and not export them, your prospective local consumers are within reach and are more likely to view your content on Tiktok.

3. Active content consumers

The audience on Tiktok is “glued to the screen.” They are more active than in other social media platforms.

If you were to post your first video with zero followers, it will at least have one reaction with an hour unlike posting a similar video to Facebook and Instagram.

Conclusion

If you can quench your Tiktok skepticism a little and take the bold move to post a one minute video about your business, in a casual non- serious way, then what have you got to lose than gain followers.

Nice post. I learn something new and challenging on websites I stumbleupon everyday. It will always be exciting to read through content from other writers and practice something from their websites.
